THE ROLE • Spearheading the establishment and oversight of compliance initiatives in Hong Kong and the region • You will be the sole legal counsel and support the business with all its legal requirements, from business-as-usual to strategic executive level. • Negotiate critical contracts with companies and government departments with sophisticated in-house legal teams. As an extension of the negotiation, your commercial drafting skills should also be exceptional. • To effectively negotiate with their customers, you should understand the company’s products and services and the regulatory environment in which its customers operate. • Collaborating with sales, operations, procurement, quality, and other key teams, offering guidance on legal issues and associated risks. • Providing assistance on strategic, operational, and sales projects for departments. • Managing corporate governance, employment, and compliance, including training. THE PERSON THEY ARE LOOKING FOR: • Hong Kong qualified lawyer with commercial experience fluent in English • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial contract negotiations, strategic risk management, and regulatory compliance, with a track record of dealing with C-suite executives. • The ability to work cross-culturally with Asian and European businesses. • Maturity and discipline to work semi-autonomously. • IT and technology skills to allow seamless collaboration across team members • The ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with the executive, functional departments and sales team.
